- Summary
- A mysterious black sphere is discovered in the orbit of Mars. The Achilles is sent to investigate. After the bedraggled six-person crew wake from eight months hibernation, a blinding light shatters the darkness. The Sphere is transmitting a single word in every Earth language ever known: Deus. The stunned and frightened crew face a series of bewildering questions; Will their encounter with 2God' edge them closer to the edge of sanity? Will the Achilles' crew be the first humans in history to retrieve proof of God's existence? If so, what does this mean for science, for them, and for humankind?
